Meet our lead attorney,
Mr. Bill MacBride



Bill is the founder of MacBride Law, PLLC. Prior to founding MacBride Law, Mr. MacBride spend 21 years as a partner at the Helena, MT based firm Gough, Shanahan, Johnson and Waterman (GSJW). Prior to GSJW, Bill spent 6 years as an Attorney and Landman with Denver, CO based Gold Fields Mining Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Consolidated Gold Fields of London, UK, representing Gold Fields in Canada, Taiwan and throughout the US. He brought to that company his 11 years of experience as a petroleum geologist, primarily with Pennzoil Company. He believes that his corporate and practical background is invaluable in providing effective representation to its clients.

Bill specializes in business organization, natural resources, real property, intellectual property (copyrights, patents and trademarks) and immigration laws. Bill graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a BS in Geological Engineering, from the University of Houston with an MBA in Finance and from the University of Denver with a JD.

30 years of legal experience


Bill has authored or co-authored articles for various seminars and publications (in business, intellectual property, Chinese mineral resources, environmental and patent laws). He has taught environmental, natural resources and business law for the Community College of Aurora (Colorado) (1991-94), the University of Denver Graduate Studies Program (1993), the University of Montana-Helena, and Montana Tech, respectively. Between 1996-1998 he organized and presented programs on mineral economic evaluation and mineral interest tenure before the Chinese Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources in Helena and Beijing.

Bill is a member of the Colorado and Montana Bar Associations and a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is an active member of Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and Rotary International. He was a co-founder of the City of Helena International Affairs Council and is on the board of the Montana Center for International Visitors, the Grant-Kohrs Ranch Foundation, and the University of Helena-Montana Foundation Board, as president. Currently, he is also president of the World Montana Board.
